Folks at iheartubuntu have created a package called Netflix Desktop that lets you watch Netflix movies in Ubuntu with the help of Wine.
For more about this, please visit their website.
They have also created a PPA archive to help you easily install this package in Ubuntu. It will also help you install Microsoft Silverlight and Wine patches that make it possible to watch Netflix movies. In this brief tutorial, I’m going to show you how to install it and begin watching Netflix movies in Ubuntu.
Remember, Netflix isn’t available in all areas. If you’re in a location which Netflix doesn’t support, you make not get to watch any movies from Netflix even after installing this application.
To get started, press Ctrl – Alt – T on your keyboard to open the terminal. When it opens, run the commands below to add this PPA
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ehoover/compholio
Next, run the commands below to update your system and install Netflix Desktop
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install netflix-desktop
After installing, open Dash and search for Netflix Desktop. Launch it and it will download and install everything you need to watch Netflix movies in Ubuntu.
When launched it automatically opens in full screen mode. To exit the app completely, press Alt + F4. To exit full screen mode type F11.
Enjoy!
