The Synology Download Center provides firmware, drivers, user manuals, and desktop utilities for every Synology product in one centralized location.

Synology Assistant is a desktop utility that lets you find, connect to, and manage your Synology NAS directly from your Windows or Mac computer.

Quick Answer

Visit synology.com/en-global/support/download, select your device model, and download DSM firmware, manuals, or Synology Assistant from the Desktop Utilities tab.

The Synology Download Center

Open a browser and navigate to synology.com/en-global/support/download or search for Synology Download Center and click the official first result.

Select the type of product you own from the first dropdown list, then choose your specific model number from the second dropdown to load available files.

The next page lists all downloads for that model across several tabs: OS, Important Updates, Manuals, Desktop Utilities, Packages, Mobile Apps, and Hardware Guide.

Use the OS tab to download the latest DSM firmware for a manual update, or the Manuals tab to get the hardware installation guide for your specific unit.

Downloading Synology Assistant

From the Download Center, select your model and click the Desktop Utilities tab. Synology Assistant will appear in the list with a Download button next to it.

Click Download and a dialog will prompt you to select your operating system. Options include Windows and macOS. Select your OS and the download will begin.

Once the file downloads, run the installer and follow the prompts to complete the installation. Launch Synology Assistant from your desktop when it is done.

Using Synology Assistant

Open Synology Assistant and click the Search icon in the top-left bar to scan your local network for any Synology NAS devices currently connected and powered on.

If your firewall prompts for permission, allow Synology Assistant network access. Your NAS will appear in the device list once the scan finishes.

Select your NAS from the list and choose to connect to it, configure Wake-on-LAN so you can power it on remotely, or map a network drive to your PC.
