The Personal Settings menu in DSM 7.1 lets each user customize their account, display preferences, and email delivery options independently from other users.

Access it by clicking the user icon in the top-right quick access bar on the DSM desktop and selecting Personal from the dropdown menu that appears.

Quick Answer

Click the user icon in the top-right bar and select Personal to open five configuration tabs: Account, Display Preferences, Email Delivery, Quota, and Others.

Account Tab

The Account tab opens by default when you enter Personal Settings. Use it to update your display name, email address, and current password for this user account.

The password section shows the date and time of the last password change, which helps you track when credentials were last updated for security purposes.

You can also change your display language from a dropdown list in this tab and configure sign-in methods such as two-factor authentication if it is enabled.

Display Preferences Tab

The Display Preferences tab controls the visual settings for your DSM session, including the theme, time and date format, and desktop icon size display.

Changes made in this tab only affect the account you are currently logged in with and do not change display settings for any other user on the NAS.

Email Delivery Tab

The Email Delivery tab lets you configure an address for receiving system reports, login alerts, and welcome messages sent directly to this user account.

This is separate from the global notification settings in Control Panel and applies only to the currently logged-in user account for per-user email delivery.

Quota Tab

The Quota tab shows the storage quota assigned to this user account for each shared folder and how much of that allocated space has already been used.

Quotas are set by the administrator through Control Panel under User settings and appear here in read-only format for reference by the account holder.

Others Tab

The Others tab has four quick toggles for desktop behavior: resume from the last session position, accessibility mode, instant file preview, and keyboard shortcuts.

These settings are minor convenience options that persist across browser sessions for the current account and have no impact on overall system performance.
